Rocket Lawyer Sells a Legal Platform. Pennsylvania Asked for an Address.

We should say at the outset that this comparison is not neutral. PA Registered Agent.org publishes it, sells Pennsylvania office coverage at $99 a year, and profits when a reader moves. What is neutral is the Rocket Lawyer pricing, lifted from their published materials in July 2026 and left exactly as found. No claim about the quality of their work appears below, because published prices are the only thing we can actually verify about a competitor.

The Membership Is the Point, and It Is a Genuine Product

Rocket Lawyer sells a subscription legal service: document assembly, template libraries, attorney consultations, and a membership structure built around using all of it regularly. That is a genuine offering with a genuine audience. Agent coverage is one entry in that catalog rather than the reason the catalog exists. Two details deserve credit. The rate is $125 a year, it is identical across every membership tier, and no promotional opening year clouds it. That is more straightforward pricing than several larger competitors manage.

The Fit Question, Answered by Statute

Here is where a Pennsylvania buyer should stop and read the actual requirement, because it is unusually narrow. 15 Pa.C.S. § 8825 asks a limited liability company for one thing: a registered office kept continuously in this Commonwealth, which may be its place of business but need not be. The commercial route is naming a Commercial Registered Office Provider instead of stating an address. Street or rural route, never a PO box on its own, unless a provider is named in lieu of an address entirely.

That is the whole obligation. No agent is appointed in Pennsylvania because Pennsylvania does not have agents; it has an address line on a form. And should you hold a Pennsylvania street address that you do not mind seeing in the public entity database, you can write it on that line yourself and owe nobody anything, which is worth knowing before any vendor sells you a solution to a problem you may not have.

So the fit question is simple arithmetic about what you will use. A company that will actually draw on contract templates and attorney access several times a year gets fair value from a $125 membership, and the address line comes along at no marginal thought. A company that needs the address line filled and nothing else is buying a legal department to obtain a mailing point.

You want the Statement of Change of Registered Office, which carries the form number DSCB:15-1507/5507/8625/8825. That string looks alarming and is not: one combined form covers four entity statutes, which is why four section numbers ride in its name. Pennsylvania's Department of State, through its Bureau of Corporations and Charitable Organizations, accepts it on paper or through the online filing system, and the fee is $5 for a domestic entity.

Fill it in the right order and no gap can occur. Because § 8825 requires the office to be maintained without interruption, the form is built so that the outgoing office and the incoming one are recorded in the same instrument; you never file a removal and then a replacement, you file one document that does both. Practically, that means the new provider has to be engaged before you start, since its address is a required field. After submission, wait until the entity record reflects the change before you close out the Rocket Lawyer side. Cancelling the membership early does not remove them from the state's file, and the state's file is the thing that governs where a summons goes.
