A Free First Year, an Unprinted Second One, and a Pennsylvania Deadline in Between

The commercial interest here belongs to us and we are not hiding it: PA Registered Agent.org sells Pennsylvania office coverage for $99 a year and wants the sale. That said, this page is about a company that withholds a price, and a single discipline runs through what follows: where Inc Authority has printed no figure, this page prints none in their place. No estimated renewal, no plausible-sounding range, no number invented to make an argument land.

The Free Year Is Not a Trick

Purchase one of their formation packages and a year of agent coverage rides along at zero cost. Looking for the conditions such offers usually carry, we found no setup charge, no term shorter than the one advertised, and no exit penalty. A brand new company receives coverage it will need anyway during the exact months when nothing has come in yet. That is worth stating clearly before anything critical follows, because it is the true part of their pitch.

The Second Year Has No Number

We went looking for it in July 2026. The homepage does not say. The package pages do not say. The questions-and-answers section, which is where a renewal figure ordinarily lives on a site like this, does not say either. In this industry a price kept off the website generally surfaces at the order screen or during a phone call, and that is as far as our evidence goes.

Leaving the number blank is the honest thing to do and it costs us nothing, because the problem survives the blank. Consider what Pennsylvania asks of you. Nothing in the Commonwealth's LLC law obliges a company to appoint anybody; it obliges the company to keep an office here, continuously, on the public record. Hiring the office rather than owning it produces the CROP relationship, a contracted provider whose name goes on the filing where an address would otherwise sit. If you have a Pennsylvania street address you are content to publish, incidentally, you may put that on the line yourself and hire no one at all.

But if you took the free year, someone else's name is on the line, and the address line cannot go empty. So the renewal is not an optional add-on you might skip. It is a fixed running expense of a business that exists, and you are being invited to accept it before anybody will name it.

Why the Timing Is Worse in Pennsylvania Than It Used to Be

Pennsylvania's annual report is new. 15 Pa.C.S. § 146, enacted by Act 122 of 2022, retired the old decennial filing and started the annual one with calendar year 2025. Seven dollars for an LLC, filed between January 1 and September 30, first one due the year after registration. There is no late fee, which sounds generous and is not: what follows instead is administrative dissolution about half a year past the deadline, and the Department has said enforcement begins with reports not filed in 2027.

Now combine the two facts. A company that formed on a free bundle is deciding, without a number, whether to keep a provider, during the same stretch in which Pennsylvania begins dissolving entities that miss a $7 filing. State correspondence about that filing goes to the office of record, which is the provider you may be in the middle of leaving. Nothing about that is a catastrophe, but it is a bad configuration to walk into by accident.

Both of Our Years, Legible Today

$99 now, $99 later, and no call required to learn either. Around that price: a staffed Pennsylvania address standing in for yours on the state record, same-day imaging of anything served on us with the alert sent as the document posts, and a reminder before the September 30 window closes on that $7 report. Ordinary non-legal mail can be scanned at $15 an item, and that is the whole of our fine print.

Nothing above should be read as us claiming the lowest price in Pennsylvania. BetterLegal prints $90, which is less. Ours is simply among the lower published flat rates, and it is published, which was the entire point.

Switching Away From Inc Authority in Pennsylvania

Five dollars covers it. The filing is the Statement of Change of Registered Office, handled by the Department of State's Bureau of Corporations, and the fee is the same whether you file on paper or online.

Sequence deserves a word here specifically because free service feels disposable. Something you never paid for seems like something you can simply abandon, so owners close the account and assume the record follows. It does not. Pennsylvania keeps the office of record intact until a change statement is processed, and that statement carries the outgoing and incoming offices together in one document, so there is no filing that merely deletes a provider.
